Design Guide 11: Welded beam to column moment connections

This design guide provides a recommended design model for beams directly welded to a column to achieve a rigid connection.

As well as a recommended design model, it contains detailing and fabrication guidance, assessment of the need for column stiffening, procedures for the design of column stiffening, two design examples and six design capacity tables for various weld configurations.

This design guide describes the connection, provides generalised detailing for the connection, a recommended design model for the design of the connection, details methods of assessing whether column stiffening is required and if so how this can be designed, provides two design examples and six design capacity tables derived for selected geometries using the recommended design model.
