Presented by international speaker Jeff Packer, Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto, Canada and Arun Syam from OneSteel Australian Tube Mills, this seminar considers in detail the design methodology and theory behind the recommended design procedures for Structural Steel Hollow Sections.
This seminar will provide:

Speakers
Jeff Packer
A graduate of the University of Adelaide, Professor Packer has published extensively on Steel Hollow Sections including several co-authored CIDECT design guide books, two design guides for the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction and another for the American Institute of Steel Construction. He has co-authored 15 books spanning five languages and written over 200 journal articles and conference papers, commercial software, specifications and patents. He serves on technical committees for the American Welding Society, AISC, CIDECT, the Canadian Standards Association and the International Institute of Welding. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
Arun Syam
Arun Syam is the Tubular Development Manager for OneSteel and holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Sydney. He is a Corporate Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia and also holds a Certificate in Arc Welding. Arun has previously worked with several consulting engineers and held senior technical positions at the Australian Institute of Steel Construction. Arun has authored many steelwork publications including the well known Steel Designers’ Handbook from UNSW Press. He represents the steel industry on numerous Standards Australia committees and industry associations (WTIA, GAA, CIDECT) and is the Welding Technology Institute of Australia National President.
