National Fabricators Forum 2017

The Australian Steel Institute invites all steel fabricators (members and no-members) to participate in this one and only national forum to discuss their issues and prospects face-to-face in a closed room environment. So why not join us!

The ASI will facilitate the Forum to ensure you have the chance to express your views on any of the discussion points raised by visiting experts. This is your chance to let the ASI know what is important to YOU.

  • Steelwork Compliance – Third-party fabricator certification to meet requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 5131 (presented by Alan Nightingale from Steel Compliance Australia)
  • Fabricator anti-dumping provisions (presented by Ed Whalen from Canadian Institute of Steel Construction)
  • Update on government action to support SMEs – State and Federal Government
  • Workers Compensation premiums – reducing costs in your business
  • General discussion Items (raised by fabricators) – conditions of tender and contract conditions (dealing with erroneous contract conditions, wet weather delays, retention monies), supply chain issues, domestic steel fabrication non-compliance, lack of consistency re WHS, average age of steel industry players (training), boilermaker skills depleting – how can the government assist with training, lack of government support on dumping of steelwork, market growth and change etc.

Register for the Forum alone or for the entire Fabricators Day which includes morning plenary session presented by key speakers commencing at 8.30am.
