The seminar explores the various facets of steel’s environmental sustainability within the building and construction industry, delving into the complexities and innovations that define the current landscape.
A critical issue addressed is the threat of greenwashing. Misleading claims about environmental benefits can undermine genuine sustainability efforts. The importance of transparent communication and how it can build trust and accountability within the industry is discussed.
The seminar also covers methods for assessing sustainability, including green certificates and labelling schemes that recognize environmentally responsible practices. Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s), which provide a systematic approach to evaluating the environmental impacts of building & construction projects are highlighted. These tools are essential for making informed decisions that support sustainability.
A deep dive will occur on Module D, which deals with the benefits of recycling and reuse at the end of a building's life cycle. Understanding Module D is crucial for maximizing the environmental sustainability benefits of steel construction.
The seminar will culminate with a detailed case study of a steel building, exploring different end-of-life scenarios through the application of Module D.
This seminar can be attended in person in Brisbane or via an online live stream, please select your preferred method when making your booking.
