Apprentices sought for WorldSkills competition

Apprentices sought for WorldSkills competition

A pathway for ASI fabricator and manufacturer members to recognise and improve the skills of their apprentices is now open in the latest round of the ASI-sponsored WordSkills regional championships.

WorldSkills tests the skills and knowledge of apprentices, trainees and students, who have the chance to win gold, silver and bronze medals and go on to compete at a national level. ASI training and development manager Anne says WorldSkills is a great way for apprentices to improve their knowledge, with the skills learnt benefitting both the apprentice and the employer.

“This cross-pollination of ideas can inspire new solutions and approaches within the industry and strengthen the bond between employer and apprentice by recognising their talents,” she said. “The end result is higher retention rates and improved work performance.”

Companies wanting to enter their apprentices and apprentices wanting to compete should go to Regional - WorldSkills Australia for more details.

The regional competition runs from February through to November 2024. Contact the regional coordinator for more information.
