Art Gallery takes out world award

The ASI-nominated NSW Art Gallery’s Sydney Modern redevelopment project has won best project of the year in the World Steel Association (WSA) constructsteel awards. 

The project was recognised for its innovative efficiency and design practices, most notably its 54% reduction in whole-of-life carbon emissions by harnessing renewable energy sources.

Structural engineer at Arup Andrew Phillips receives the award from Leon Topalian, the chair, president and CEO of North America’s largest steel producer and recycler Nucor Corporation, Arup advised on the structural, civil, fire safety, fire and hydraulic security, acoustic and traffic elements of the Sydney Modern Project.
