ASI appointed to government green metals panel

The ASI will provide strategic advice to government on investment in green metals and decarbonisation as a member of a new Federal Government advisory panel.

The Industrial Decarbonisation and Green Metals Advisory Panel has seven members, with ASI chief executive Mark Cain providing input from the steel industry. The members are Mark; national secretary of the Australian Workers Union (AWU) Paul Farrow; national managing partner, consulting, KPMG Australia Paul Howes; CEO of Australian Aluminium Council Marghanita Johnson; national secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Steve Murphy; CEO of the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre Jenny Selway; and chief executive of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia Rebecca Tomkinson.

The panel’s insights will also help inform the Department of Industry, Science and Resources industrial net zero sector plan.

The panel held its first meeting on August 22 and is a temporary, independent group. It is not a decision-making panel and has no governing legislation.
