New guidelines reinforce importance of SCA certification

Updated SA Government guidelines continue to reinforce the need for contractors to obtain structural steelwork certification before applying for government work.

Under the South Australia Dept for Infrastructure and Transport Revised Master Specifications SA review process, five groups of master specifications have been updated as a priority to improve processes and clarify requirements for SA’s Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project.

This includes project controls, transport planning, roads, public realm, structures and tunnels.

The specifications require contractors to ensure that the fabricating structural steelwork is certified in the appropriate category under the National Structural Steelwork Compliance Scheme (NSSCS).

The ASI’s Steelwork Compliance Australia (SCA) scheme provides that certification.
