This Guide has been revised to include all the changes adopted in the December 2014 edition of the steelwork corrosion protection Standard AS/NZS 2312, now divided into Part 1: Paint coatings and Part 2: Hot dip galvanizing.
This authoritative Guide will inform engineering and architectural designers on atmospheric corrosion protection for structural steelwork, on achieving the design life of the asset and on gaining an understanding of AS/NZS 2312, Parts 1 and 2, 2014. It will aid in understanding the process a corrosion professional will follow to determine a suitable corrosion protection system for a particular environment.
It has also been designed to be useful for the fabricator and protection coatings supply chain in understanding specification requirements and current thinking as to how to achieve the results the designer is looking for.
This book has been adapted and revised for Australian conditions from the Heavy Engineering Research Association NZ (HERA) Report R4-133 entitled 'New Zealand steelwork corrosion and coatings guide' and is the result of a collaboration between HERA, Steel Construction New Zealand, the Galvanizers Association of Australia, the Australasian Corrosion Association and the Australian Steel Institute.
