The connections included in this current Tubular Design Guide are generically associated with the usual types of bolted bracing arrangements in building applications and, as shown in Figure 1.1, comprise the connection components associated with the supporting member, specifically:
- Bracing cleat: where the component is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the supporting member
- Gusset plate: where two or more bracing members frame into the supporting member, with the component parallel to the longitudinal axis of the supporting member
- Cleat plate assembly: the assembly of the bracing cleat attached to the supporting member and the cleat plate attached to the end of the supported brace member.
