Course Content
The latest version of AS 4055 Wind Loads for Housing has placed more rigour around the adequacy of the supporting building frame to resist failure under wind loads. When considered with the requirements of AS/NZS 4505 Garage Doors and other large access doors, it is important for engineers and suppliers to carefully assess the design of both the door and supporting structure. The course is 1 hour and 30 minutes long (excluding quizzes).
1. Changes in AS 4055 Wind Loads for Housing
• Key aspects of AS 4055 relating to roller doors
• Understanding the impact of changes to roller door design from AS 4055 and the 2022 National Construction Code (NCC)
• Determining the correct wind loads
• Testing of roller doors and supporting structure
2. How to correctly use AS/NZS 4505 to design roller doors and supporting steel structures:
• AS/NZS 4505 from a Designer’s Perspective
• Minimising the risk of door failure (determining loads on door supports,
general failure points, design & detailing)
• Worked Example
3. Q&A – answering questions from sessions 1 and 2
