Steel is fundamental to a modern society. It is used in the buildings in which we work, live and play and the transport infrastructure we use. Steel is also a vital component in the energy generation and transmission industries, in the extraction of minerals, oil and gas and in manufacturing and agriculture. 

The ASI believes the recommendations made in this White Paper should be adopted by federal, state and territory governments to ensure the continued development of a sustainable Australian steel industry in the 2020s and beyond.
