The Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) certification program is superseding the Australian Steel Institute's (ASI) current Environmental Sustainability Charter (ESC) and will become the new program to certify downstream steel businesses (fabricators, roll formers and reinforcing processors) for sustainable practices across broader ESG sustainability indicators.

The proposed program has already undergone numerous rounds of consultation and feedback with key industry stakeholders including current ESC members, the Green Building Council of Australia, environmental consultants, engineering firms, steel producers and suppliers.
